About Karen
Karen Kmeid is an Immigration Analyst at Gerami Law PC. She completed the French Juris Doctor program at the University of Ottawa, graduating in June 2024. Karen also holds a master’s degree in political science from the University of Ottawa, where she wrote a thesis critically examining the rise of the far-right in Spain. Her academic journey began with a Bachelor of Social Sciences.
Karen’s career at Gerami Law PC began as an intern, where she gained hands-on experience in immigration and refugee law. She then completed her articles at the firm, further developing her expertise in legal research, case preparation, and client advocacy. Now, as an Immigration Analyst, Karen leverages her comprehensive training and practical experience to support counsel in complex immigration matters, conduct in-depth research, and contribute to case strategy and preparation.
Karen’s areas of expertise include:

- Country conditions and humanitarian cases
- Narrative development and client intake
Fluent in English and French, Karen’s personal journey as an immigrant and her experiences living in multiple countries have shaped her passion for immigration and refugee law.
Outside of work, Karen enjoys rock climbing, drawing, reading, and caring for her collection of cacti.
